Dharma’s motherboard unexpected died on us earlier this morning with no hint that it was going to stop working. Since we house our servers in a datacenter, we do not always have immediate access to them. There was a long delay with having the motherboard replaced which results in Dharma being down for more than 60 minutes (which is our own SLA we have from our provider.) Unfortunately there was nothing we could have done to sped this up as our provider did not have any extra motherboards for our specific server processor on hand. As a result they went out of there way to purchase a new mobo and as such was the reason why our server was down for several hours this early afternoon.

Dharma just happens to be the server Floriental is on. Thank you all for your patience during this time!

I have responded to ALL emails – be it contact forms or applications. If you have not received a reply at all, please check your junk/spam box before submitting another form.

I do need to have another check that all hostees are linking back. This isn’t such a huge deal but for those who haven’t linked back for quite a while, I will be emailing you. I will also be looking at inactive hostees who have not emailed me regarding their inactivity, and just doing a general checkup.

Since the price of .com and .net domains has increased, I’ve increased the prices of those domains by a dollar, which isn’t very much difference.

I might have a domain giveaway in the near future. I’m quite busy so I can’t really hold anything huge – it might be a small Twitter contest, or it might just be a domain contest at random. I won’t be giving away many because at the beginning of this year, I did give away 10. (I also don’t want to buy domains for people who won’t use them or will ditch them later down the line.)

There are some applications sitting in my inbox and I have also not had adequate access to my emails for the past few days.

However, I am able to and will be processing these applications within the next 12 hours. I apologise for the delay.

I also have two domains, abillionfeathers.com and iambasiic.com, which are unused. It would be nice if someone could pick up these domains. I am not giving these domains away. If you are interested in purchasing just let me know, they’ll probably go for about $7 USD.

I have emailed several people whose websites did not have links, or I could not locate them. I am giving new hostees some time to get their websites up and ready before I check for links again.

I’ve looked over all applications – I’ve accepted a few more new hostees and I’m just waiting on a few other applicants as I’ve had to ask questions.

However upon doing this, I don’t want anyone to abuse this service. I am providing you with my personal emails, and I do use these to contact other people, be it friends, family, or other students at university when working in groups. Just because I might appear online it doesn’t mean I’m not busy doing work, regular chores at home, or away from the computer/laptop sometimes.

When adding me to MSN please write who you are in the message box, so that I can read it when I receive your invite. If in doubt, send me an email to let me know what your MSN address is. The same applies for adding me to Gmail chat; I cannot guess who you are from your address!

You’ll find me on MSN quite frequently. I ask that you respect my wishes when I am busy or away – I actually use these statuses appropriately, not to hide from people. “Busy” means I am busy doing something, “Away” means I am literally not at the computer, so expect late replies in both cases. Please respect my wishes and I will do the same for you. I don’t mind general chatting; you do not have to talk to me like a friend unless you want to, but try not to hassle/disturb me.

Also, my email georgie@heartdrops.org is now working again so you can email me there. Regardless, I have forwarded those emails to my Gmail account (and you can email me at my Gmail account if you so wish as I check it regularly), and sometimes I can access my email from my iPhone.

The reason I say “sometimes” is because I’m on prepaid so it’s awfully expensive to check my email so much on the go. Nevertheless, I do respond pretty quickly and usually within 24 hours when it comes to help.

I have a study break from university – I don’t have anything huge planned for the site and I’m not quite up for a domain competition yet, but if you have ideas on how to do one, just shoot me an email or leave a comment. In the past I’ve had a movie poster designing competition, and one like the NameCheap Twitter trivia contests.

I am also going to clean out a few old accounts on the server during my break, since I haven’t had the chance to remove them. In this case I will probably just be conducting a check, making sure people have linked back, and so on. If you have a note that you’re on hiatus, that’s fine.

This really only applies to domain hostees, but if subdomain hostees have a problem do not hesitate to let me know!

Some of you have told me about problems with viewing your site. I have sorted out things for some of you and hopefully you guys can view your sites. Thanks to the staff at Holdfire I was able to rectify this problem.

I had to edit a few people’s account settings for everything to work again but this will not affect your files or login.

You will most likely be having this problem if you are using the nameservers ns1.floriental.org and ns2.floriental.org. If you cannot view your site and changed the nameservers over 48 hours ago, please let me know via email or comment so I can adjust your account’s settings – after that, all should be fine.

Don’t hesitate if you have a problem. I am alerted via email for all comments posted, so I’ll hopefully be on the ball.

Well, I decided to move to a new reseller. We are now proudly hosted by Holdfire! Hopefully, we won’t be encountering DNS issues. I have emailed all hostees about the change. To domain hostees – please make sure you have changed your nameservers to ns1.floriental.org and ns2.floriental.org. Some of you have not replied or I haven’t heard from you – Amanda, Cza, Jenn, Kay and Rikki.

I decided to move everything to Floriental because I was starting to dislike the .info extension on Heartdrops! And I really did feel like a fresh start after all those problems. Visiting Heartdrops.info will only redirect you here. However, subdomain hosting is still available on Heartdrops.info and I won’t be getting rid of that domain.

I’m glad we’ve moved – I was super excited about this moment and the “grand opening”. I started to lose interest in hosting, and really get ticked off by the server issues. I nearly closed.

But I made the decision to move. I lost a bit of money – but money is nothing when it makes me feel really good to help everyone out and provide a free service.

I hope nothing has been lost on the old server. I can try to retrieve it, but I can’t guarantee it will be there – things on the old server will be deleted soon. At the worst, you might have lost a few blog comments (if you have a blog) or logged visitors. Nothing major. (Let’s hope it wasn’t a big blog comment.)

Unfortunately I also lost some hostees because of the server problems on my previous reseller. But we can only look forward.

The base of this layout was made in 2005, no joke. Back in the days when I tried scribbling! I’ve lost the talent but I am incredibly proud of this creation. I used it on a layout on Heartdrops and voila, it’s here now. :3

And – I’ve decided to make all hosting free! If you want to buy a domain from me you still can, but hosting is free. I have had to edit packages because I don’t have as much space but if you need more I’ll upgrade you, and if we all need more I’ll be happy to upgrade my reseller!
